This is big for us. “Best Bench” is one of a handful of new categories this year and is, surprisingly, controversial. Who knew where you sat your toosh could be so complex? The inaugural winner is my personal favorite, the Grand Ave. pedestrian bridge bench. It has its own built-in spot on the bridge and gives you the best river view. Just a little ways away is the Phoenix Park bench overlooking the confluence of the rivers, which is also a heck of a view. Also in downtown Eau Claire, the Galloway St. bench across from Banbury Place has offered many solace to get lost in their thoughts or stop for a rest while on a walk. —McKenna Scherer
