Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? Would Big Falls County Park in rural Eau Claire County be as beautiful if it were called “Little Falls” instead? Frankly, it probably would, considering its scenic blend of water, woods, and smooth rocky outcroppings (perfect for sunbathing) has topped this category for 11 consecutive years. Beauty is also in abundance at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls, whether it’s found on shady paths, alongside the babble or Duncan Creek, or in the wonders of zoo animals from around the globe. The Devil’s Punchbowl, a natural area just outside Menomonie, is a unique feast for the eyes, especially in winter when the small canyon is ringed with glittering ice. —Tom Giffey
