The Cook-Rutledge Mansion (505 W. Grand Ave., Chippewa Falls) was voted the best historic home. Tours of the lumber baron’s home are truly unique. Restored and furnished in 1887, it is an example of High Victorian Italianate architecture. The Schlegelmilch-McDaniel House (517 Farwell St., Eau Claire) is a house turned museum, operated by the Chippewa Valley Museum. A German immigrant merchant family built it in 1871. It is one of the first brick homes built in Eau Claire. Regrettably, The David Drummond House (1310 State St., Eau Claire) was struck by lightning in the fall of 2025, and it is slated to be torn down due to fire and water damage. —Barbara Arnold
