Even if its name is often mispronounced (its benefactor apparently called himself “Er-vin,” nor “Er-vine”), Irvine Park of Chippewa Falls is beloved across the Valley for its charming zoo, museum, picnic spots, gazebo, trails, and much more. Carson Park is a tree-covered peninsula smack dab in the middle of Eau Claire with plenty of places for sports and relaxation, not to mention a miniature railroad and two museums. River Prairie Park provides a relaxing stream, charming art, and riverside views (keep your eyes open for bald eagles) in Altoona. —Tom Giffey
