Since 2018 — under its new moniker — Eau Claire Cheese and Deli (1636 Harding Ave., Eau Claire) continues to provide its patrons with quick bites and specialty sammies including the “Brackett Avenue Beef,” among other favorites. Another townie classic, the Acoustic Café in Eau Claire (505 S Barstow St. #A) offers hot hoagies and — my personal favorite — pita pockets stacked with fresh veggies and perfect for on-the-go. It wouldn’t be a quick lunch roundup without Jay Ray’s (1907 Brackett Ave., Eau Claire) whose small-but-mighty sandwich shop offers hot and cold bites — perfect for any hungry human. —Evelyn Nelson
