It’s more than fun alliteration; a Friday Fish Fry is a cornerstone of Wisconsin culture. Who exactly fries up the best pollock, cod, walleye (and perch, if you’re lucky!) is a matter of considerable debate, and people have strong allegiances. In first place is 4 Mile Restaurant & Bar (S5786 WI-37, Eau Claire), a true Eau Claire classic with a cozy, nostalgic interior, salad bar, and crispy fish. In second is the Wissota High Shores Supper Club (17985 Co Hwy X, Chippewa Falls) whose fish is made with Leinie’s beer batter, broiled, or panko crusted.
