Best Local Book Released In The Last Year

This category is a bookworm’s delight! Andrew Patrie, one of Volume One’s own contributors, claimed the lead with his debut book, Clumsy Love — a memoir about his journey of parenting his transgender child. When Grandma Was Little Like Me is Kristy Martin’s debut children’s book honoring the bond between grandparents and grandchildren. And we have a tie for third by two of the Valley’s most beloved authors! Nikolas Butler’s novel, A Forty-Year Kiss — a dramatic love story with a small-town feel — came to fruition after a bit o’ eavesdropping at a local bar. Dinosaur Dreams by B.J. Hollars narrates his trek through the Montana Dinosaur Trail with his daughter, where they dig a little deeper (paleontology pun!) into historical tidbits. —Stephanie Nesja
