Folks around here freakin’ LOVE the Chippewa Valley Air Show (yes, I’ve been) and it doesn’t swing into town every year, so make sure you keep an eye out. (Though, it is hard to miss — you’ll hear ‘em before you see ‘em.) Not to pat ourselves on the back too much, but after almost two decades of Chalkfest, we kinda have to. Since Volume One created the colorful outdoor arts event years back, UW-Eau Claire now hosts and handles the annual summertime event, free to the public. The Northern Wisconsin State Fair is the purveyor of peak summer vibes. Ferris wheel with a heck of a view? Check. Funnel cake and deep-fried everything? Check. The chance to dunk on some kid at the ring toss game? CHECK check. —McKenna Scherer
