The Sue Orfield Band has done it again, placing in the top three for this year’s Best Jazz Band. For decades, the ensemble continues to grace the stages of dimly-lit and sunny-skied venues across the Chippewa Valley and brings their best jazz renditions with them. A key player in the surge of regional jazz music, Weapons of Brass Destruction has secured second place (no actual weapons were involved). Cathy Reitz & 7Swing placed third this year, whose sultry soundscapes are sure to entice local listeners with each new venue they play. —Evelyn Nelson
