It’s not as easy as you’d think to capture the perfect scenic photograph, but these three have it mastered. Mike Howard returns to the lead, capturing the beauty and essence of the Chippewa Valley. Second-place finisher Tina Ecker’s specialization in black and white photography gives her images an eerie feeling with an avant-garde twist. In third, Justin Patchin returns to the list again, often capturing images invoking movement, from waterfalls to lightning, as well as stunning sunsets and nighttime skies. —Stephanie Nesja
