Life Support BBQ to Zap It up at Food Truck Friday

Don’t let it shock you: Life Support BBQ is zapping up good eats at Food Truck Friday this year, passing out pulled pork sliders, mac and cheese, their classic meat mac, pork belly burnt ends, and the Hangover. Life Support began with the idea of creating barbecue the traditional way – on a stick burner. “We love doing whole hog barbecue,” said Ryan Jean-Baptiste, one of the owners. “It’s our specialty.” Jean-Baptiste said he personally likes Life Support’s “Hambulance Cuban,” but, overall, the whole hog is his favorite food Life Support serves. “It’s my favorite thing to cook,” he said. Now, they’re grilled up to bring the best barbecue to the Chippewa Valley at Food Truck Friday. Their most popular food item is the Cuban sandwich, but they have a new Nashville hot chicken sandwich in the works for the “truly adventurous,” Jean-Baptiste said. Jean-Baptiste advised trying their newer items. “Even if it’s not what you would typically consider barbecue, you may be surprised,” he said. What makes Life Support BBQ unique is how they cook their food over a wood fire using hickory and cherry wood, which results in a distinct and authentic taste, Jean-Baptiste said. In addition to Food Truck Friday on Aug. 2, Life Support will also be at Altoona’s Rock’n on the River every Wednesday this summer. More information on Life Support can be found on their Facebook page.
