Rebecca Mennecke

Rebecca Mennecke is an award-winning writer and editor who tells meaningful stories of the Twin Cities community as the Assistant Editor of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in creative writing and journalism, she hit the ground running as Associate Editor of Volume One Magazine, writing and reporting "Outbroken: A pandemic’s impact on Wisconsin food & farms," one of Volume One’s most ambitious storytelling projects, which was awarded Best Pandemic Story in Print and Video by the Milwaukee Press Club, Best Multimedia Project Award by the Association for Alternative Newsmedia, and Best Digital News Project by the Local Media Digital Innovation Awards.  

Her work appears in publications such as Med City Beat, The Chippewa Herald, The Leader-Telegram, and Wisconsin Examiner; and her poem “Hope Is the Thing That Blossoms on Trees” appears in the 2021 collection Hope is the Thing: Wisconsinites on Perseverance in a Pandemic, published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press. She formerly served as Editor in Chief of  None of the Above (NOTA), Managing Editor of The Spectator, Lead Student Assistant at W.D. McIntyre Library, Senior Writing Assistant at the Center for Writing Excellence, and an intern for the Chippewa Valley Writers Guild and Barstow & Grand.
