One Man’s Trash: Percussion sensation STOMP comes to the Pablo

James Johonnott

What began as the brainchild of two performance artists busking on the streets of York City 25 years ago is now STOMP, the musical, dance, and percussion sensation known across the world. The STOMP tour takes the show on the road, and brings the rhythm of The Big Apple to the Pablo Center on March 20 and 21. The show is famous for using what appears at first as garbage, but the audience quickly recognizes as the tools of genius, to create a one-of-a kind show that’s synonymous with the same streets that birthed this New York City institution. It’s explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, unique, and unforgettable for all ages. STOMP is rave-reviewed, and known throughout pop culture for the past three decades for its creative, unique, and utterly indescribable performances. The performers of STOMP are an eight-member troupe who make percussion music with anything but traditional percussion instruments. They’ll use anything they can get their hands on, including hubcaps, matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, and more to create magnificent and pulse-pounding, electric rhythms. As the Boston Globe says, “If you haven’t seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!”
