According to the owners of food truck Holy Donuts, those fluffy rolls of dough are about as close to heaven as you can get. And there’s no shortage of paths to those pearly gates, with mini donut options including Grandma’s Apple Crisp, Captain Crunch, Butterfinger Blitz, Raspberry Lemonade, and Cosmic Brownie Crush.  Bloomer Bakery (1415 Main St., Bloomer) offers everything you’d want from a small-town sweetery, including apple fritters, danishes, long johns, bismarks, and traditional chocolate and vanilla donuts (with sprinkles, of course). While there, you can also eyeball their incredible sugar cookie concoctions. Augusta Bakery (144 W. Lincoln St., Augusta) has been known to collab with cops to hand out donuts on National Donut Day, but their cinnamon rolls and pastries also deserve a short and mouthwateringly sweet mention!  –Rebecca Mennecke
