Founding Stories – Chippewa Valley Technical College - EST. 1912
Educating and training workers to help the Chippewa Valley thrive
V1 Staff |
The incredible changes that were occurring in agriculture, communication, transportation, and manufacturing in the early 1910s necessitated a change in education.
In 1911, legislation gave birth to city-based trade schools, the forerunners of today’s Wisconsin Technical College System and Chippewa Valley Technical College. Since 1912, CVTC has seen periods of boom and bust, but no matter what the circumstances or challenges, CVTC has been a constant.
As we look forward, we expect advancements in technology, medicine, transportation, and energy will take us far beyond our imagination. But regardless of how the future unfolds, the College will continue to help our local businesses and industries prosper, and to help train and educate tomorrow’s workers to help our community thrive.
