Since 1867, Leinenkugel’s Brewery (124 E. Elm St., Chippewa Falls) has been Chippewa’s pride (at first, literally) and joy, brewing up Leinie’s Original pilsner and other tasty beers. However, Molson Coors’ recent decision to close operations and centralize in Milwaukee was a blow to the town, the Leinie family, and the 58 employees who worked at the flagship brewery. Locals can still take out-of-town guests to visit the Leinie Lodge, which is still a sight to see. Visitors will love Irvine Park Zoo and Nature Area (125 Bridgewater Ave., Chippewa Falls), with wild animals such as tigers, bobcats, cougars, black bears, deer, and bison, but its wintertime Christmas Village absolutely shines. Finally, the Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market (300 Riverfront Terrace, Eau Claire) offers some of the best fresh produce and local goods around. –Rebecca Mennecke
