Too often in our quest for the amazing, we fail to fully acknowledge the ordinary. Teachers may be ordinary people, but they make the extraordinary possible, and our voters chose them as the Most Underrated Thing About the Chippewa Valley. The presence of homelessness and drug abuse may be disheartening, but they should spur us to be advocates, supporters, and friends: Is the Valley doing all it can to address homelessness and addiction? And while public libraries may be taken for granted, they provide stimulating programs for children and adults as well as the chance to read almost any book for free. — Tori Johnson
