Pedaling through the Snow

Carrie Weiss

Menomonie cyclists are putting a fresh twist on old holiday traditions this year. On December 18, riders will convene at Bad Cat Bicycles to pedal the First Annual Menomonie Tour of Lights. A combination of neighborhood tree-light touring and caroling, the hour-long bike ride will discover Menomonie’s best-lit neighborhoods. Pete May, owner of Bad Cat Bicyles, felt the need to “get people out of cars, and become more neighborhood-focused.” Magical luminary scenes, beloved friends, and crisp winter air are just some perks of this ride. The tour will also give back to the community; cyclists are asked to bring a canned good to be donated to Interfaith Food Pantry. If you would like to join in, show up at Bad Cat Bicycles (327 E Main St., Menomonie) at 5:30 pm the day of the ride. For safety’s sake, sport a helmet and bike light, and accompany your children.
