Eau Claire’s Eryn Johnson recently introduced organic waxing through Sugaring NYC to the Chippewa Valley.
OK, but what even is sugaring, and why is it in Eau Claire?
“Sugaring is a form of hair removal that differs from waxing in two ways,” Johnson said. “First, it removes the hair from the follicle without breaking the hair like traditional waxing. Secondly, it is made of three, all-natural, organic ingredients. Water, sugar, and lemon make up the sugar paste.” This paste is even edible, according to Johnson – although, I wouldn’t suggest eating your own hair.
You know those pesky, little ingrown hairs? Sugaring minimizes those, and it doesn’t need to be done as often as traditional waxing either. By sugaring, the hairs grow thinner over time and therefore become less painful to remove. “The most common thing we hear from our clients is that sugaring is less painful than waxing,” Johnson said.
Besides the organic sugaring, Sugaring NYC also offers eyelash and eyebrow services, as well as something called a “vajacial.” Vajacials are a popular service, and Johnson explains that it is a “mask that we apply after a brazilian or bikini service that helps soothe and heal the skin.”
You might find most Sugaring NYC locations in larger cities, but Johnson thought that her hometown of Eau Claire would accept the idea very well – and so far it has. She experienced her first Sugaring NYC on a vacation in Florida and fell in love with the process immediately.
Every month, Sugaring NYC (2839 Mall Drive #3A, Eau Claire) offers discounts and specials on select services and products. To keep up with their updates and announcements, check out their Instagram and Facebook.
