FREE TO BE FIT: Haymarket Landing’s Gym Has New Owners
pair saw perfect opportunity to take health and fitness one step further
After three months of quarantine, local personal trainer Alisha Lange and her husband, Tim, are looking to bring in fresh faces to their newly owned business, Fitness Freedom – formerly known as Haymarket Fitness – to get more people moving.
Lange and her husband know a thing or two about staying healthy: She’s a Natural Pro Bodybuilder, athlete, and a former volunteer firefighter and EMT; he’s a former member of the Altoona Fire Department and a current flight paramedic for the Mayo One helicopter in Eau Claire.
“Health and fitness have been in my blood,” she said. When the former owners wanted someone else to take over the gym inside the Haymarket Landing building, Lange saw the perfect opportunity to take health and fitness one step further, she said.
The gym includes cardio equipment such as treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals, as well as dumbbells of various weights. For more experienced workouts, they offer Crossfit equipment, Lange said.
“We’ve been cleaning everything daily – once or twice a day,” she said.
They encourage visitors to wipe down equipment before and after use, and their equipment is spaced out or put out of use to encourage social distancing.
“People have been really respectful,” Lange said.
Memberships to Fitness Freedom have no contract and cost $24.95 per month. They offer a special package to veterans for monthly memberships at $19.95. Since June 1, people have been free to use Fitness Freedom, and the owners will continue to watch Centers for Disease Control and Eau Claire City-County Health Department guidelines and update gym procedures as recommended.
Fitness Freedom is at 60 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire. Learn more at www.facebook.com/haymarketfitness.
