Classic, skate, Nordic; however you like to strap on the skis and hit the trails, the Chippewa Valley has something for you. Ranking in first place is Beaver Creek Reserve (S1 County Hwy K, Fall Creek), with over 1 mile of beginner friendly trails and over 2 miles of difficult trails to enjoy. Coming in second place is the Tower Ridge Recreation Area (1230 S 82nd Ave., Eau Claire), a trail system with a huge 12 miles of groomed trails for all skill levels. In third is the Hoffman Hills Recreation Area (740th St., Menomonie), a beautifully restored 707 acres of wooded hills and prairie to glide through. —James Johonnott
