Run, walk, bike, do whatever you need to do to get yourself over to Phoenix Park on Saturday, June 24 for Rock the Riverfront featuring the Charity Classic. This year for the first time ever, the Royal Credit Union Foundation is turning the Charity Classic – its longstanding annual, early morn charitable run/walk – into a full-blown, six-hour celebration. Rock The Riverfront will fill Phoenix Park with a fleet of food trucks (Gordo’s Food Truck, Bubbles BBQ, KC Concessions, Crave 80/20, and Soul Brewed Coffee to be specific), a gallery of bouncy houses and inflatables, balloon animals, face-painting, more family-friendly stuff, and live music. And that’s not all. In addition to the usual 10k, the 2-mile run/walk, and the kid’s races, they’re adding a No-K “No-Race” Race, new this year for the non-runners and non-walkers who want to be there to contribute to a worthy cause and have fun. Also new this year: Encouraging folks to vote for their favorite of three different charities: Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire, the Chippewa Falls Center of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley, or Huey’s Hideaway Children’s Museum in the Medford/Colby area. All three charities will benefit, but you get to choose the biggest winner in a poll at www.rcu.org. First place wins $15,000, second place $7,500, and third place $5,000. You can purchase additional votes for just $2 each to help the charity of your choice win the big prize. And when you register you get a t-shirt, a charity vote, and a meal ticket. Pre-registration ends June 20. For more details or to register, head to www.rcu.org.
