Jordan Hauser, owner of Riverflow Refillery, has embedded sustainability throughout many facets of her life. Hauser's strong family upbringing, which emphasized reuse systems, led her to volunteer for green infrastructure projects, become a co-op member, and discover local refill stores while traveling.

After moving to Eau Claire, Hauser became an active member of JONAH Environmental Task Force, helping engage community members in the Plastic-Free Eau Claire campaign. Through the task force, she volunteered for the 2024 Earth Week Open House and UW-Eau Claire’s Earth Claire.

“I deepened my understanding of the community’s needs for sustainability — equipping me with insights to operate a refill store,” Hauser said.

Riverflow Refillery (207 N. Barstow St., Eau Claire) has a clear mission with direct impact on the consumers within the Chippewa Valley: to provide high-quality, sustainable products that prioritize the well-being of people and the planet, with mindful choices from production to packaging.

“Our slogan, ‘making sustainability simple, one refill at a time,’ reflects our goal of making eco-friendly living accessible and practical,” Hauser said. “We hope this mission directly impacts residents of Eau Claire and beyond.”

Riverflow Refillery first welcomed customers into the brick and mortar shop in the North Barstow District in downtown Eau Claire, through a sequence of soft opening dates in March. The Eau Claire Refillery, a business that shared similar values in providing low-waste alternatives for everyday life, previously occupied this space until its closure in December of last year.

About one week since the official grand opening on April 5, and the response from the city has been overwhelmingly positive, Hauser said.

The new refill shop offers all-natural, low-waste alternatives that support personal health and environmental responsibility, Riverflow Refillery shared online. By switching to products with plastic-free packaging, Riverflow Refillery encourages customers to explore low-impact living in a way that’s realistic, she said.

The business’s refill guide features bulk supplies for personal care items such as hand wash, shampoo, and conditioner, as well as household cleaning products like laundry and dishwasher detergents.

Customers can bring in their own clean jars, purchase reusable glass containers in-store, or use a donated container from the shop's community shelf. Simply tare out the weight of your low-waste container or bottle, and take the first step toward an environmentally focused lifestyle.

Looking ahead, Hauser plans to continue expanding the refill shop’s offerings to feature smaller, women-owned businesses across the state of Wisconsin, whose values and products align with Riverflow Refillery.

“Long-term, we hope to deepen these local partnerships and continue fostering community-driven sustainability through education, events, and expanded product offerings,” Hauser said.

Visit the Riverflow Refillery during their new hours of operation; 11am to 6pm from Wednesday-Saturday, and 11am to 3pm on Sundays.
