Many migratory birds make their way across Wisconsin every year — some continue their journey while others stop to smell the flowers, take in the hills of Trempealeau County, and build a home nestled in small-town neighborhoods and apple trees. One such haven for winged friends has been the Grover family farm, aptly named Winghaven Orchards first in the 1850s. Now with a few less apple trees yet the same commitment to comfort and care, Winghaven Pizza Farm has become a haven to the local community five generations later.

With people flocking to their doors every open weekend, folks are greeted by owner Rob Grover, eager to share his family farm’s history. With the help of close friends and family, Winghaven Pizza Farm effortlessly creates an atmosphere of home just outside Galesville, about 60 miles south of Eau Claire.

The rustic barn and buildings are positioned next to the stunning, subtle greenery that can only be found in rural Wisconsin, cascading the sunlight over picnic tables and the drums and guitars of the live band, with twinkling string lights over it all. “At Winghaven Pizza Farm, we invite guests to unwind, disconnect, and savor the experience,” Grover said.

An experience you can also expect to bring to your taste buds. “Our menu features artisanal pizzas crafted fresh-to-order on a delectable thin crust coated with our signature garlic butter spread,” Grover said. “We proudly use locally sourced, seasonal ingredients – many coming just a few miles from our farm.”

With nearly a dozen pizza varieties to choose from, guests can also delight in vegetarian or gluten-free options, handcrafted one by one. You can even end the night with the perfect desert pizza (like their famous caramel apple pizza)! “Our offerings also include a popular Bavarian pretzel and a selection of locally sourced beverages, including beer (regular and non-alcoholic), wine, and sodas.” Count me in!

With plenty of room to dance, eat, chat with locals, and even play a few yard games in the sun, Winghaven Pizza Farm prioritizes laughter, relaxation, and community above all else. “Building strong relationships with everyone involved has been key to our success,” Grover said with pride. “Come enjoy the scenery, good drinks, live music, and become part of our farm’s rich history.”
