Even a few weeks of rain showers couldn't dampen the spirits of the Chippewa Valley, as the 2026 Sounds Like Summer Concert Series makes its triumphant return to the local stage.

Picture the scene: our community greenspaces bustling with folks in hammocks, families lounging alongside their four-legged friends and the sweet sound of live melodies in Phoenix Park (330 Riverfront Terrace, Eau Claire), the heart of downtown Eau Claire. 

Last Thursday, June 25, the Sounds Like Summer series continued with three electric musical performances: around 6pm, opener Colton Warren set up with his acoustic guitar for his Sounds Like Summer debut. Next, Creeping Charlie and the Roundups took the stage with their full ensemble, serving up a full-band experience with musical nods to John Prine, Loudon Wainwright and Tom Waits.

Finally, attendees saw the return of the Jesse Stratton Band, whose high-energy and catchy country-bluegrass tunes gave us all – especially the youngsters – a reason to dance and play throughout the Phoenix Park labyrinth. 

Each Thursday night for the rest of the summer, Volume One will host free-to-attend live music from about 6-8:30pm. Weekly acts are paired with plenty of food and drink from the Valley’s food trucks – from newer Potato-Potahto to seasoned Dhimiters – as well as local nonprofit and business vendors.

This is your sign: grab those lawn chairs, blankets – even a hammock or two – and find your favorite spot around the park to sit back and enjoy the sounds of summer in Eau Claire.
