sometimes, you just need a good cry – other times, you need a group scream

“One person screaming off a bridge is a cry for help; a group of people screaming off a bridge is a cathartic experience that is sure to be a howl!” Sold yet? (I am!)

For the first time, an organized group scream* will be occurring at one of Eau Claire’s historic landmarks in celebration of the Full Hunter Supermoon – and to release stress – on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The public is invited to gather at 5:30pm at Phoenix Park for a guided meditation with Latitude 44 and Eaum Yoga + Fitness for some pre-scream zen. At 6pm, the group will be led to the High Bridge by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) as part of Walktober, and at 6:15pm, the “howl” will commence: One minute of collective screaming down the Chippewa River. The happening is organized by Downtown Eau Claire Inc.

“This year has presented many challenges for everyone and with the election around the corner, many will feel those stressors increase,” a recent media release from DECI said. “As a way to liberate some of those feelings, we are gathering to set some space to move through the conclusion of the year.”

All ages are welcome to this free scream. DECI said folks can meet the group at the High Bridge just before 6:15pm if they can’t make the meditation or group walk over. Mark your calendars for the inaugural High Bridge Howl on Oct. 17!

*Yes, this is a legit event! Do not be alarmed when you hear a chorus of screams echoing down the Chippewa River past The Brewing Projekt and Phoenix Park on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:15pm sharp • Keep up with DECI on Facebook
