Hygge Event Will Help You Enjoy Winter (Really!)
some enjoy the cold season more than others, but all can enjoy this upcoming event
After the chaos of the holiday season and the turn of the New Year, January in Wisconsin can feel like a shadowy, frozen purgatory where we’re just waiting for spring to come. But what if, instead of sitting inside binging bad TV, eating junk food, and fending off seasonal depression until the lilacs bloom, you could embrace winter with a sense of coziness, contentment, and joy? Enjoy the latter through what Danish and Norwegian folks call “hygge” (pronounced “hoo-gah”).
That’s what Rachelle Jack and Diana Rohlik aim to provide at their "Ignite the Light" event on Jan. 11 at the beautiful Beaver Creek Reserve. Rachelle is the owner of Whimsy Willow Wellness, a reiki practitioner, and yoga instructor, while Diana is the owner of Hearth Reiki Healing as well as a yoga instructor and reiki master teacher.
The like-minded duo are coming together to find the joy in the wintry months, and will begin Ignite the Light with a guided sunset hike. Afterward, attendees will make their own nature-inspired fire-starter craft to take home, followed by warm beverages, nourishing soup, and a Reiki meditation beside a toasty bonfire. The event runs from 3-7pm.
Think of it like “active rest” where you mentally and physically slow down so you can reconnect with your own inner fire, recharge in nature, and leave feeling invigorated, ready to enjoy – not just endure – the rest of our Wisconsin winter.
Snag your tickets – $65/person – for the event, which is aimed at offering the sense of contentment that comes from fresh air, good food, and uplifting company – like a big happy sigh at the end of a great day.
