If you haven’t already heard, Dunn County’s Vino Cappuccino (N5734 US-12, Elk Mound) welcomed new owners – and a menu refresh – last summer. Kimber and Isaiah Sorvaag (and their littles) made a pretty significant pivot from their mostly work-from-home careers, all for the sake of community.

Former longtime owners Dina and Galen Babb opened Vino Cappuccino in 2017, turning the homestead property into a true destination. When they were ready to turn the page on their business ownership chapter, they weren’t sure if Vino Cappuccino would continue – if they didn’t find the right people to take the reins.

That made sense, considering Vino Cappuccino is a unique business. In conversation, it sounds like it could be several individual ventures: wood-fired pizza joint; a wine bar; a coffee bar; and a live outdoor music venue. Vino Cappuccino is all of those things rolled into one.

Then, the Babbs met the Sorvaags. Last July, Isaiah told Volume One the community-centric nature of the business was what hooked their family from the jump.

Just shy of one year later, Vino Cappuccino’s new owners have been fully embraced by the community, as have the additions and tweaks to the menu. We reached out to the family to see what customers have been enjoying most. Here’s what they said!

Pizza

The Bison Bacon, made with regionally-sourced protein from Hooverville Junction Bison Farm, topped with chicken maple sriracha.

Sandwiches

The Chicken Pesto and Chicken Bacon Ranch (the latter is new; it’s selling like hotcakes, Isaiah said).

Salads

The Maple Meadow.

Drinks

“People are always raving about our coffee,” Isaiah shared, noting the use beans from Hayward-based Backroads Coffee. Customers also love Vino Cappuccino’s wine flights and wine cocktails – made exclusively with regional wine – and the new drink menu items like seltzers from Spring Valley-based Half Fast Brewing.
