Downtown Eau Claire’s 2 Roots Art & Wine invites guests to explore the world — one pour at a time.

The experience at 2 Roots Art & Wine Gallery (216 S Barstow St) reaches far beyond what’s in the glass — it’s a passport to global flavor, local creativity, and heartfelt community.

Since opening its newly expanded location in October 2023, 2 Roots has become a vibrant gathering space for wine enthusiasts, art lovers, and curious newcomers alike.

But its roots go deeper — originally founded in 2017 as 200 Main Art & Wine, the mission has remained the same: to provide a space for people to connect. With the expansion into the new space the mission also expanded into: giving the community the opportunity to travel the world without ever leaving Eau Claire.

Wine for Every Palate, Poured Your Way

At the heart of 2 Roots, one can discover a lineup of more than 100 wines available by the glass — one of the most expansive by-the-glass selections in the country — and approximately 1,500 wines available by the bottle.

Guests can explore at their own pace, crafting custom flights with 1-ounce pours typically priced at just $2–$3.

“People love building their own flights,” owner Sean Chambers, said. “You could line up eight cabernets or sauvignon blancs side by side — it’s the equivalent of about two glasses, but it’s an experience unlike anywhere else.”

With three pour sizes — the 1 oz “Tiny Taste,” 3 oz “Stand and Sip,” and 5 oz “Regular Glass” — guests can sample widely or settle into a favorite. The selection spans everything from familiar California cabernets to lesser-known wine-producing regions such as Croatia, Greece, Lebanon, and Turkey.

This globally curated rotation contributes to one of the largest by-the-glass wine programs available anywhere in the world — making 2 Roots a destination for adventurous wine drinkers. The wines offered by the glass have new selections rotated in a few times per week, Chambers explained.

From creative expression to community engagement, 2 Roots Art & Wine Gallery has become more than a place to drink wine – it's a place to belong.

A Community of Curiosity

Beyond wine, 2 Roots stocks 100 different canned/bottled beers (all of which are $5 tax included), a growing collection of whiskeys and bourbons, plus a robust menu of non-alcoholic options — a reflection of evolving tastes.

“We’ve really expanded our non-alcoholic offerings this past year,” Chambers said. “Our goal is to make sure there’s something for everyone.”

Tastings are available not only for casual visitors, but also for those planning weddings, graduations, and special events. Private sessions help customers confidently select the perfect bottles to serve for dinner parties and large events, he said.

Elevated Bites, Effortlessly Paired

The gallery also offers a rotating selection of cheeses for charcuterie boards, designed to complement your glass. Guests can share gourmet 10-inch pizzas topped with distinctive ingredients like duck prosciutto, elk salami, or even wild boar — alongside the traditional pizzas featuring honey pepperoni or sausage.

Art on the Walls, In the Air, and All Around You

Just like its wines by the glass, 2 Roots’ visual essence is meticulously curated, Chambers noted. The gallery features a rotating selection of works from over 20 artists — many from the local community — with standout displays by Terry Meyer, Anders & Barbara Shafer, Aubrey Hogan, and Schaefer Miles. Pieces rotate regularly, ensuring each visit offers something new.

Art spills across the entire venue — from main-floor walls to the upstairs mezzanine, a popular hideaway for book clubs, private events, and quiet moments of reflection. Chambers encourages guests to flip through the art and wine books that fill the nooks upstairs, adding depth to their experience.

Where Music, Ideas, and Community Meet

Live music brings the space to life nightly, featuring local and emerging artists across genres. The revived “Ask-A-Scientist” series, created in partnership with professors from UW-Eau Claire, brings science into the mix, offering engaging talks with the community that pair perfectly with a glass in hand, Chambers said.

From creative expression to community engagement, 2 Roots Art & Wine Gallery has become more than a place to drink wine — it’s a place to belong.

Whether you're here to discover your next favorite wine, connect with local artists, or simply relax in a space designed to inspire, 2 Roots invites you to come as you are — and leave with a taste of the world and a deeper sense of community.

2 Roots Art and Wine Gallery is open Tuesday through Thursday from 3pm to 11pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 11pm.
