Putting a literal spin on meat raffles and other giveaways, local media personality Scorch has created a unique way for his viewers to win some meat. The “Wheel of Meat” segment has garnered popularity over several iterations of Scorch’s show, and is now part of his YouTube series, Scorch’s PFG-TV.

Since 1995, Scorch has been playing the Wheel of Meat for viewers and listeners after creating the game while hosting a radio show in Boston. For the first time in a while, however, Scorch now has an actual wheel. The game garnered local popularity on his previous radio show, Scorch in the Morning on 92.9 The X, where Scorch would use a wheel-spinning sound, slap some meat on the air, and people could win the meat if they guessed what it was.

“I think the segment has become so popular over the years because it's just that absurd. A fun absurd, but absurd,” Scorch laughed. “I’m sure spanking the meat has something to do with it, too!”

The current version of the game is similar, but this time with an actual wheel and other options to land on including GTFO (lose a turn), Taste the Meat, Stroke the Meat, Free Drink, Merch, and four meat slots with actual meat that Scorch then slaps with his hand: If a contestant guesses the meat, they win a year’s supply of it!

The meat for the current version of the game is supplied by JNE Meats in Lake Hallie, the variety offered in his February show being Thuringia (a German sausage), summer sausage, and garlic sausage. Scorch says he’d like to bring in the Wheel of Meat at least once a month on his show, but often likes to spring it on the audience.
