Wisconsin baked bean juggernaut has the power!

The future of electricity.

Above: The future of electricity.

In what scientific experts agree is probably my favorite local headline of 2011, WEAU.com boldly proclaims, “Local Power Company joins forces with Bush's Beans.”

Oh, hell yes.

I can only imagine what magnificent creations will be unleashed by the Augusta company that brings us Bush’s Original Baked Beans (w/ Bacon) now that they’ve joined forces with a freaking power company. Finally – they’ve got ample electricity to power their wondrous bean-based concoctions. The game, dear friends, is about to get changed.

But seriously, reading more than the headline exposes an interesting partnership in sustainable energy. Sustainable energy, we say? We do:

Dairyland Power Cooperative has agreed to purchase power from Bush's using a new anaerobic wastewater system in Augusta.

The power company says biogas will be produced, running a generator that will produce enough power to produce power for nearly 500 homes.

So says WEAU.com, 9/21/2011

Wow, a baked bean company is able to sell electricity to a power company because it produces enough “biogas” to power 500 homes. Seriously? It’s so good to hear that a large Wisconsin employer is thinking green while innovating the field of fart jokes. On Wisconsin!
