Joe Hujet, Media Strategist: There are about 10 Snoopy-themed coffee mugs at my house. Today’s mug features “Joe Cool,” which of course, is my favorite of his many alter egos.
Andrea Paulseth, Staff Photographer: Spider plant propagation is slow…
Amanda Polden, Community Engagement & Events Coordinator: My Yeti coffee cup was a surprise gift sent through the mail from a friend in California and the stickers have been collected from local places such as the Yoga Rooms, Together Farms Farm Store, the library, Slate Boutique, and (of course) The Local Store.
Don Ross, Websites + Design + Ticketing: This mug appeared in our break room one day — and it baffled me for years. It’s not mine… or is it? Did I hit my head on a roller coaster at Legoland, then buy a personalized coffee mug, and forget all about it? It was finally revealed on Ma Vue’s last day, that it was secretly purchased by him and Allison Buchli (V1’s former video producer and designer), at a garage sale at Packer legend Don Majkowski’s house.
McKenna Scherer, Managing Editor: Local artist Elizabeth Carey, a self-described jack of all trades, master of none, is the ceramicist behind this self-described coffee mug hoarder/lover's favorite mug. Its pinky opalescent glaze is stunning; its unbothered, textured base kind of feels like home. Underneath the high-shine gloss, this curvy thing is sturdy enough to handle just about anything. (Talking about the mug, of course.)
Jade Juedes, Graphic Designer: I got this mug purely for aesthetics. I actually bought a lavender counterpart that I use at home. This one here is my "work mug." It doesn't hold too much, and my hands cup around it so nicely. It's incredibly smooth all around and lightweight.
Jake Smith, Media Strategy Director: This mug was a gift from some coworkers when I ended my first tour of duty (at V1) to embark on a professional side quest in the [REDACTED] industry. When life brought me back to these hallowed halls on Dewey Street, it only felt right to make this my daily coffee delivery mechanism.
Evelyn Nelson, Associate Editor: Befriending local creatives — and investing in their craft — is a truly unparalleled experience, especially when sparked by a story in our magazine. Katie Jae ceramics (and Katie herself) have quickly become a cherished part of my daily routine, both in and out of the office. Her earthenware mugs possess a warmth that brings me as much joy as my coffee does!
Matt Hasenmueller, Marketing & Digital Content Strategy: Most of my mugs I source from thrift stores. I like the idea that they’ve already lived a life before they met me. This one in particular I like because it gives no context to what “THE BIG ONE” is, a good reminder that you’ve already survived so much, and will continue to do so.
Alex Barber, Video & Photo Director: I bought this cup specifically as a “do-it-all-forever-vessel,” It’s enamelware, so I’ve used it to heat water over a fire while camping, as a bowl for soup and as an extra large tea container for when I’m sick. I hope this thing lasts longer than I do.
