Before starting Kahvi Coffee House and Cafe in Eau Claire, co-owner April Becker did not drink coffee. “Now I drink it daily,” she said, “and I crave it.”

With incredible roasted coffee from Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea in Ohio, owners Cody and Molly Filipczak (owners of C&M Real Estate), Chris Becker (managing broker of C&M Real Estate), Scott Knepper (owner of Trillium Commercial Realty), and April Becker (former owner of Hope Tree Family Therapy), found they can’t go back to the bitter coffee they were drinking before.

“I have become a coffee snob,” Chris Becker said, “as silly as it sounds.” 

The whole intention of Kahvi Coffee – an urban-casual, modern, Scandinavian coffee shop located at 3830 Talmadge Road in Eau Claire – is to create opportunities to be more mindful throughout the day. “It’s difficult not to be mindful when drinking a cup of coffee,” April Becker said.

One of Kahvi’s top-selling signature coffees is their Fika mocha, which is a caramel-infused white mocha that can be served hot, iced, or blended. Fika is a Swedish term that is both action-oriented and a state of mind, April Becker said.

"It's taking time each day for a coffee and cake break with family and friends... Everyone comes together to have coffee, cake, pastries, just a bite to eat. So I just thought, that is lovely."

“In short form, it’s taking time each day for a coffee and cake break with family and friends,” she said, “so even a lot of the companies (in Sweden) schedule time out in the afternoon where all the staff, it’s just expected: Everyone comes together to have coffee, cake, pastries, just a bite to eat. So I just thought, that is lovely. I would love that to be implemented in more people’s lives.”

Kahvi Coffee also features a quirky retail side, with unique pillows, wall pendants, small bags, and unique custom trinkets. They have drive-thru and outdoor patio options for folks who are on-the-go – and they also offer snacks for your pup,  such as their pumpkin nutmeg treats.

Unique coffee is a trademark of Kahvi Coffee, the team says, with the intention to eventually add coffee cocktails and pour-overs to their menu.

“Our baristas are really scientists to some degree, because instead of pushing a button and a lot of the work being done for you, everything is personally calibrated to that barista’s touch,” April Becker said. “It’s all just very hands-on and technical.”

Kahvi Coffee will celebrate its official grand opening on Dec. 10 with a weekend of special deals. On Thursday, Dec. 10, they will offer $1 mochas and lattes. On Friday, Dec. 11, the first 100 customers can snag a Kahvi Coffee mug. On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 12-13, they’ll have a 25% off special on their retail goods, and face painting on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 1-3pm.
