Although our hearts may already be set on the vibrant scenery and autumnal treats of this fall’s harvest season, we still have a full year of anticipation ahead before a new apple-centric celebration makes its local debut.

Owners and staff at Dixon’s Apple Orchard and Autumn Harvest Winery (19947 Cty Hwy J, Chippewa Falls) are hard at work to bring “Applepalooza Chippewa Falls” to the community, slated for Oct. 8-9 in 2027.

Modeled after the success of Dixon’s Applepalooza event in Duluth, Minn. – now going on its fifth year and slated for Sept. 26-27 this fall – the Northern Wisconsin State Fair (225 Edward St., Chippewa Falls) will act as the local host site.

“We're looking forward to partnering with Dixon's in creating an event where kids, parents, grandparents and friends can come together, enjoy the apple season and make memories while showcasing the best of what our region has to offer,” Brian Maki, executive director of the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, said.

Locals who have journeyed north to experience the Applepalooza in Minnesota can attest to the annual celebration's bounty (or should we say bushel) of live entertainment, regional artisans and vendors, food trucks and family friendly activities.

This energy will be exactly what organizers intend to cultivate at Applepalooza in Chippewa Falls. For Becky Mullane, owner of Dixon’s Apple Orchard and Autumn Harvest Winery, this new iteration of the event will honor what has arguably become the “apple capital” of western Wisconsin.

“This is home,” Becky said of Chippewa Falls. “It's such a great way of giving back to the community.”

“We’re going to be able to serve our wines here at this event, that’s going to be another huge benefit,” she added.

Of course, guests can expect a wide variety of Dixon’s apple varieties to enjoy, Becky added – including Dixon's own variety, the Champagne Apple – whether enjoyed fresh off the tree or baked into delicious treats.

While the specific roster of Chippewa Valley artisans and food purveyors for next October’s festivities are still in the works or under wraps, Becky said the coming months will be dedicated to outreach and developing new local partnerships ahead of the inaugural Applepalooza Chippewa Falls.

Becky and Northern Wisconsin State Fair staff anticipate drawing the same thousands-deep crowds which have made the Duluth celebration a true fall destination.
