Families, friends and professionals caring for others can use a hand. Join fellow caregivers and experts to learn about self-care, managing stress, senior care, and so much more during Caregiver Conference – a conference for all caregivers.

The conference will be Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Chippewa Valley Technical college Education Center, 620 W. Clairemont Ave. (See full registration details below.)

“Our goal is to increase knowledge and awareness to support and strengthen those offering caregiving services in a professional atmosphere or to family and friends,” said Claire Lindstrom, Chippewa Valley Technical College Business Development and Continuing Education Specialist. “We look forward to connecting with our community through this informative event.”

Keynote speakers Jeff and Mary Sanders, a married couple who owns a private therapy practice, provide counseling and relationship resources to people who find themselves in the role of caregiver.

They will speak about loss and caregiving, anxiety, communication, conflict, and relationship enrichment. The couple will be sharing information from their vantage points as care recipients and care partners during a past 10-year health crisis and currently as caregivers for a 91-year-old parent.

Breakout sessions include topics on family dynamics, mindfulness, dementia, resiliency, caregiver burnout, mobile apps for caregivers and receivers, first aid for caregivers, and navigating dementia. In between sessions, treat yourself to a chair massage, paraffin dip, visit with therapy dogs and join in a Zumba session.

“This is an opportunity to give caregivers a well-needed break and for them to speak with experts in the field as well as other caregivers,” Lindstrom said.
