It’s electric! Some of you may or may not have heard the gossip about an electric car charging station being brought to Eau Claire. Well, B&B Electric wants to turn this station from rumor to reality. According to Kevin Blaha, Eau Claire B&B Electric’s vice president, it’s not a question of if an electric car charging station will be here. “It’s a matter of when,” said Kevin. Right now, B&B is trying to find a spot for it. “We’re out talking to some businesses and they’re very interested in putting these in,” said Kevin. They would like to find someplace convenient and close to the highway. Oakwood Mall and various grocery stores are among the locations considered. Once a place is found and a contract signed, the length of time it would take for the station to be built would be fairly brief. With continually rising gas prices and depleting oil reserves, the appeal of electric cars is a no-brainer. The more prevalent electric car charging stations are across the country, the more electric vehicles we may see on road. Even Kevin commented on their importance in today’s world. “I wouldn’t buy a vehicle you couldn’t charge someplace.” So even though an electric car charging station in Eau Claire isn’t here yet, the odds are looking pretty good.
