Skating Through Your Holidays

Hobbs Ice Center hosts three festive events this winter including skating with Santa

Have you ever noticed that every musical, movie, or TV show with a kidsy angle is made that much more awesome by adding the phrase “on ice?” Think about it. Disney On Ice: genius. Sesame Street On Ice: brilliant. Back to the Future III On Ice: too much for words.

Well last year the Eau Claire Parks & Rec Department did something similar by taking three holiday events and adding “on ice.” So on Nov. 23, from 1:15-3:15pm, there’s the return of Turkey Skate, in which kids activities like a relay race, red light/green light skate, and turkey bowling take center stage – all on ice. On Dec. 10 there’s a Breakfast Skate With Santa from 9-11am. That includes a tree-decorating relay race, gingerbread houses, cookie decorating, and Santa … on ice! Finally, on Dec. 31, they have a Rock’N New Year’s Family Skate from 3-5pm with a DJ, games, and party favors – you guessed it, all on ice.

All come with a small fee (between $1 and $5), but include prizes, refreshments, and craft times. And they all take place at Hobbs Ice Center, 915 Menomonie St., Eau Claire.
