In a pilgrimage of nearly 900 miles, Simon journeys from Cyrene to Jerusalem. He finds himself caught up in a cruel procession where a criminal drags a cross to the Hill of the Skull. The condemned, unable to continue with his burden, stumbles and falls as he passes Simon. A Roman soldier forces Simon to carry the cross for the man, Jesus.
