A Story Told With Jewels
Williams Diamond Center acts a guide to forever moments through fine, heirloom and estate jewelry
In the world of Williams Diamond Center in Eau Claire, jewelry acts as a profound vessel for emotion and a powerful connection to love and life’s most significant moments.
As Teva Dekel, manager, designer and owner of Williams Diamond Center explains, “jewelry to me is that tangible link to emotion.”
Teva’s mission extends beyond the craft of beautiful adornments for occasion wear, but to act as a pathfinder through a journey where each diamond and setting becomes a deeply personal expression of feeling.
“Our intention is never to make anything feel intimidating. We love different people’s journeys; you can be an individual at Williams,” Teva said. “My goal is to be a guide.”
While diamond engagement rings continue to be an area of specialty for Williams Diamond Center, Teva illustrated several trends and styles offered at the storefront, extending beyond just rings alone.
Staff at Williams encourage clients to consider their entire jewelry wardrobe and how different pieces can flow together to tell a cohesive story – beyond their special occasion or wedding day.
For example, if a client has a radiant cut diamond in their engagement, they might consider a radiant cut necklace to pair alongside it.
Brooches have become a popular, customizable item for Williams’ clients, Teva added. This decorative jewelry serves as a timeless accessory that grooms often select to complement their bride’s engagement rings.
“I love brooches, (for) if you want a little extra sparkle and give yourself some personality,” Teva said.
With any types of jewelry offered at Williams, the center also repurposes diamonds from clients – particularly family heirloom pieces. Teva and his staff consider it one of the storefront’s best-kept secrets for weddings and formal occasions, he shared.
When a family diamond can be incorporated into a future ring, it continues an element of love and further symbolizes the priceless value of jewelry.
“Whatever that diamond’s journey was, it has participated in life,” Teva shared. “Now, it gets to participate in yours – I think there’s something really lovely about that.”
Teva and his team are delighted to transform all kinds of jewelry – including rings, earrings and pendants – into new, symbolic adornments for the wearer’s next chapter. Repurposing allows individuals to make inherited pieces – whose original style they might not love – into something that is truly theirs.
Williams Diamond Center once moved a diamond for a client which the family could trace back to the 1830s, making it the oldest diamond the center has ever handled.
“It is such an honor to find a new setting, to find a new home for (the diamond). It isn’t just the story of getting a really beautiful diamond ring – you are also taking on something that has a karmic loving weight,” Teva continued.
In addition to heirloom restoration, Williams Diamond Center values the accessibility and one-of-a-kind gems found within its estate cases – which offer stand-alone diamonds to vintage, funky and personalized pieces.
Their estate collection constantly changes, Teva shared, but offers an accessible approach for clients who search for budget-conscious – yet equally enchanting occasion wear.
“This is the most fabulous upcycle and recycle you can possibly do,” Teva said.
Estate offerings – like any other diamond customizations – are deeply personal to Teva, whose parents were art and antique dealers specializing in antique jewelry. He breathes this lifelong affection for such pieces through Williams Diamond Center’s art-deco, Victorian and late twentieth century pieces.
Individuality and hands-on care are two core values which remain central to Williams Diamond Center’s success; Teva’s background in fashion and jewelry design – with the new addition of a protege designer, Madilyn Vetter – bring this personalization to life for clients.
“Her and I collaborate all the time,” Teva said. “She connects to people in a really loving way and understands what (jewelry) means.”
Teva views his work as being the messenger for countless stories, each one unfolding with the creation of a new piece – whether its earrings, an engagement ring, or a new pendant upcycled from “something borrowed, something old.”
At Williams Diamond Center, the story begins with transparent conversation, to determine clients’ aspirations and showcase what goals and this forever chapter means to them.
“You want your ring to be something that stylistically you are going to adore and love every single day. Because, it’s not so much a ring … (it is) the reminder of the life you want to build,” Teva said.
