When Becky Dixon Mullane and her husband Jim were first scouting out land in the Chippewa Valley for their new orchard to call home, they were looking for rolling, lush land against a backdrop that would be as memorable as it was invigorating, and not just for their signature Champagne Apples.

“When we first saw the property we are now on, we thought, ‘We see weddings here,’ ” Becky recalled.

With more than 100 acres of land in Cadott, Wisconsin – just an afternoon drive through apple country outside of Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls – Dixon’s has grown to be a true destination with its apple orchard, wedding venue, and Dixon’s Autumn Harvest Winery. To match its three-strong business, the sprawling orchard and wedding venue includes three separate venues for couples to choose from.

The picturesque Pond/Island makes for fairytale-like moments, couples tying the knot on a little island across the water from guests in a serene, intimate portrait; its peaceful Woodland setting is cradled by overarching trees with unique wood benches and a trellis; and beauty in the Orchard is an unforgettable one, a large trellis with long rows of apple trees surrounding for a captivating scene.

While the Woodland venue is Dixon’s most popular, when couples choose to have their special day at Dixon’s, they get the entire property to themselves. While one venue will be the place to say “I Do”, people are free to roam to the other venues. “We always hear from couples how beautiful they found each venue, and they’re surprised when we tell them the entire property is open to them,” Becky said.

Dixon’s reception space comfortably seats up to 250 people, sprawling across 5,300 square feet, an open-air porch overlooking a bonfire space while a separate bar and food area means space for everyone in the family to enjoy. Plus, a separate groom shack holds barstools and foosball to hangout at, while the bridal suite hosts a full salon inside for ultimate ease.

At Dixon’s, only one wedding is booked per day, allowing Becky and Jim to commit to assisting each couple and their guests.

“As a family operation, we put our heart and soul into each wedding. We care about each and every couple, and that’s another reason we love having just one wedding per day, so we can really focus on that one couple,” Becky explained.

With three wedding package options, couples are able to form the day of their dreams, even if it’s hosting just the ceremony or reception at Dixon’s, or choosing the Full Package. The Full Package includes everything – and when Dixon’s says everything, they mean that. A ceremony and reception that includes a horse-drawn carriage and tractor-pulled wagon, full usage of the groom shack and bridal suite, privacy and ability to peruse the full property, and schedule a meeting with Becky and Jim prior to the wedding while they assist the day of.

While Dixon’s hidden-gem venue seems to transport people to a simpler, peaceful time, it offers couple’s the ability to completely craft their own vision for what decor and food they’d like. Not only is it a money-saver but it also gives full creativity to the couple. “We’ve seen a wide array from pizza trucks, caterers, and people who do it all themselves; we see it all and want people to create exactly what they want,” Becky said.

Plus, Dixon’s Autumn Harvest Winery being just three miles from the venue means a close, quaint space to host bridal showers or rehearsal dinners, and couples who’d like the option of Dixon’s Autumn Harvest wine at their wedding are offered 20% off their wine order.

Becky recalls the joy of seeing families make a tradition of picking apples at the orchard together, year after year; groups chatting and laughing over wine at the winery or individuals settling in with a book and a glass; and being part of some of the happiest, warmest days of people’s lives at their weddings.

“We want Dixon’s to be a destination place, whether it’s for your wedding, to visit the apple orchard, or the winery,” she explained. “Our desire is for families and individuals from all backgrounds to come and truly enjoy their day in our space.”
