When Action City opened its doors on the Southside of Eau Claire in 2005, its mission was centered around one thing: FUN.
After 20 years – and several impressive expansions, including the Metropolis Resort Hotel, Chaos Water Park, and trampoline park – it’s safe to say that mission has been accomplished. But the fun doesn’t stop at the 20-year milestone.
The family-owned resort has continued to provide new, entertainment-packed spaces where anyone of any age can have fun. Two decades into business, Metropolis Resort has been host to thousands of celebrations and events: birthday parties, weddings, company outings, school field trips, banquets, holiday parties, and more.
Looking back, the milestone moments each seem bigger and better than the last. After Action City opened its doors in 2005, its success led to the site’s hotel creation, opening just three years later. The following year, Chaos Water Park opened, bringing the Chippewa Valley’s only indoor water park to life. In 2016, Metropolis Resort introduced the area’s only trampoline park: a 20,000-square-foot jump spot for folks of all ages. In 2017, Action City’s outdoor go-kart track got a major remodel and introduced its outdoor zip-line attraction.
Today, Metropolis Resort is also home to its own restaurant – alongside Action City’s food court and brand-new City Coffee Co. offering – and continually upgrades its hotel rooms. Action City has seen its fair share of upgrades too, the play center now host to mini bowling, a ninja warrior course, outdoor mini golf, an indoor laser maze (in addition to its popular laser tag arena), and so much more.

As a ‘thank you’ to the Chippewa Valley for its continued support of Eau Claire’s staple play center and resort, Metropolis Resort is inviting the community to a celebratory shindig: On Thursday, June 12, Metropolis will host a free-to-attend Customer Appreciation Party! From 2-5pm at the Chaos Water Park Backyard, the resort team is bringin’ all kinds of activities and games, grub, and giveaways.
“We’ll be announcing our biggest giveaway of the whole year at the Customer Appreciation Party,” Mariah Geisert, Metropolis Resort’s marketing director, said. “We wouldn’t be able to do any of the things we do, without the community; This is one of the ways we want to say ‘thank you.’ ”
Without spoiling the biggest bounty of them all, some of the other features to look forward to at the Customer Appreciation Party include a cook-out style meal of hot dogs and sides, a campfire and s’mores and snow cones; yard games and a bounce house; outdoor water activities and a foam machine; face painting; and more.
In addition to the Customer Appreciation Party, Metropolis will also be offering all-day discounted jump and play passes, for $26.99. Plus, all June long, Chaos Water Park admission is on sale for $19.99.
