Strawberry Season at Eder’s Acres is Nearly Here
Chippewa Falls farm home to four acres of strawberries
From mid-June to early July, strawberry season is in full swing at Eder’s Acres. The family farm, established in 2022, will soon open its gates for picking!
From jam-making to a fresh twist for a salad, these soon-to-be-ripe berries are perfect for the taste of summer. With five different varieties of strawberries, the Eder's Acres has recently expanded in size from one acre to four full acres of berries for the 2024 picking season. Fresh and flavorful strawberries taste best from the source, owner Seth Eder said.
The official start to picking season for the farm is still up in the air, Eder said, as it depends on the next couple of weeks' worth of weather when the berries will fully ripen. Typically, that date will fall between Father's Day, June 16, and July 4, Eder said. Once picking season begins, the farm will open at 6am daily until picked out! Keep up with the Eder's Acres Facebook page for the announcement of picking hours.
Strawberry season is more than just gettin’ out to pick, though. For many, it’s a tradition that brings families and folks of all ages together to celebrate the sweetness of summer.
“The best picking is first thing in the morning. The cool morning temperatures make picking easier,” Eder said. “We see daycare groups to elder home care facilities come in for a visit.” Eder’s Acres offer pre-picked five-quart pails for $20, and pick-your-own strawberries sold in five-quart pails for $12.
Grab your pail and the family; the farm will be operating as early as 6am this season! Eder encourages arriving early and checking their Facebook page for updated hours and information as the season arrives.
