Last year was the best year in the past decade when it came to construction of new residences in Eau Claire, with more units being build in the city in 2022 than in any of the past 10 years, the City of Eau Claire's Community Development Department reported recently.

The growth was driven by the construction of two-family and multi-family units, according to the 2022 Development Map and Report. Construction of those kinds of units nearly doubled the annual average over the past 10 years. Meanwhile, construction of single-family homes in the city exactly matched the average over the past decade.
