Not Just a Showcase, a Parade: Parade of Homes 2023
annual Chippewa Valley show is back to display craftsmanship, design, and ignite excitement
If you’re actively seeking the right avenue toward homeownership, or already are a homeowner looking to upgrade, then this June’s Parade of Homes is absolutely for you.
This year marks the 49th Annual Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association Parade of Homes. Attendees will be able to peruse 10 new homes and two remodeled homes in person, as well as a virtual home and a virtual remodel.
This year’s homes range in price between $300,000 and $800,000, not including factors like lots, landscaping, and well or septic systems. These factors are determined by the locations of this year’s homes, all being close to the Chippewa Valley for attendee convenience. Paraded homes can primarily be found in Eau Claire, but some are also located in Lake Hallie, Altoona, and near Hickory Hills Golf Course.
With that said, the showcase is not meant to be purely a gallery of homes, but also serves to provide ideas and inspiration for future improvements, projects, and designs at home – or in the creation of a future home. “Whether you’re looking for decorating ideas, paint colors, flooring options, or just want to see the latest trends, there is something for everyone,” said Christina Thrun, executive officer at the Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association.
Simply by observing all these design trends, it’s likely you’ll find a creative decision that resonates with you, too. In general, there’s been a shift from “farmhouse” to “modern” trends in recent years that can be seen in this year’s homes. During the tour, folks can expect to see more homes with black windows and doors, quartz countertops, and two-side toning, for instance.
In previous years, the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically affected the parade’s production. However, it seems its effects are finally stabilizing: “While lumber prices have come down a little,” Thrun explained. “We are seeing a ‘new normal’ for the cost of building materials. So the overall home prices are anticipated to remain at this new level.”
With this stabilization, this year’s Parade of Homes has had further exciting developments. For example, this is the first year the parade will be showcasing a landscape and a remodeled exterior, and the first year that virtual tours will allow visitors to move around the space as they see fit! You can also participate in the Peoples’ Choice Voting: just leave a one- to five-star rating for each house you visited to be entered in a raffle for $100, or have some family fun with a scavenger hunt which can lead to one of six prizes.
