Christopher Vuk, also known as the Blue Violin, has performed with stars like Gloria Estefan, John Mayer, and even on Sesame Street. This December, he will be performing at Menomonie’s Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts.

The Thursday, Dec. 21, holiday-themed event is called “Blue Violin Candlelight Christmas” and will include both electric and acoustic renditions of classic Christmas songs such as “Carol of the Bells,” “Silent Night,” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” Vuk will also be performing original compositions and arrangements from his upcoming album release.

As the name of the show implies, there will be hundreds of candles on The Mabel Tainter stage for the performance, adding a warm and intimate ambiance.

Although Vuk is from the Midwest (specifically northeastern Iowa), this show will be his first time performing in the Chippewa Valley. “My family were fans of Lorie Line when I was a kid, and I see that she performs in the area,” Vuk said. “I believe that my music would appeal to a similar audience as hers.”

“I’ve built this show to appeal to families, and hope that it can be an inspiration to young people; giving them a chance to see all of what a violin can do,” Vuk said.

The show at the Mabel Tainter (205 Main St. E, Menomonie) is from 7-8:30pm on Dec. 21 with no intermission. Children are encouraged to attend. A general admission ticket is $30. The family pack (includes up to three adults and four children) is $75. To learn more about the Blue Violin, check out the official website
