In more than five years of business, Sunny Skies CBD has cultivated a dedicated clientele who use a range of products created by the Durand-based retailer: gummies, tinctures, creams, and even pet products.
With a roughly 17-acre farm in Durand, the family-owned business has thrived thanks to its education-focused and transparent practices, led by Ben Rippley and Pete Adler. Rippley, a University of Colorado-Boulder Leeds Business School graduate with a background in the CBD industry, and longtime local educator Adler put their noggins together to bring Sunny Skies CBD to life in 2019.
Perhaps what has made the business so successful is their forthright approach to growing and producing CBD products: using organic growing methods, Sunny Skies is a licensed USDA Hemp Producer; licensed Wisconsin Hemp Processor; and their third-party lab is at a FDA-licensed Food Processing Plant. Sunny Skies grows just two varieties of hemp, Hawaiian Haze and CBG, and grows more than 1,000 plants per year.
“Most of our local clientele use CBD for overall pain relief, help with sleep, and anxiety relief,” said Rob Griffin, Sunny Skies marketing director.
That’s reflected in Sunny Skies CBD’s top-sellers in 2024, which include:
- 25mg Full-Spectrum Blue Raspberry Gummies (50-count jars)
- 3000mg Full-Spectrum CBD Tinctures (peppermint, unflavored)
- 3000mg CBD Cream
- 3000mg CBD Freeze Gel (roll-on, squeeze bottles)
- 3000mg CBD Salve
- 3000mg CBD Pet Tincture

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, and is largely popular for its use in topical products like oils and creams. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychotropic (in other words, it will not cause a “high”). As described on the Sunny Skies CBD site, there are a variety of studies that discuss the benefits of CBD though it is not yet FDA-approved.
Sunny Skies has several products that contain 0% of THC, and its “Full-Spectrum” products contain less than 0.3% of THC, which is the federal legal limit. In alignment with the local business’s transparency efforts, their lab results are posted at www.sunnyskiescbd.com.
