Just a flick of the wrist is all that stood between Eau Clairians, a game of disc golf and the chance to play in the sport's world championships this fall! From noon to 3pm on Saturday, May 31 at Mt. Simon Park (1100 Addison Ave., Eau Claire), local disc golfers had their chance to play in the 2026 Glitch World Championship Qualifier series.
The Glitch World Championship Qualifiers – presented by MVP Disc Sports and hosted locally by Clearwater Disc Golf – aims to provide players with the opportunity to show off their "one-speed prowess" with the goal to earn a ranking spot in the annual Glitch World Championships in Leicester, Mass..
One might wonder, what exactly is a "glitch"? The glitch, according to the organizers' website, is a hybrid catch disc designed to for both regular frisbee and disc golf.
Eau Claire's event featured a one-round singles tournament, using one-speed discs. The top ten finishers were able to win prize discs and free entry to Glitch World Championship from Sept. 11-12.
