After three months of "slow, patient maturation" in Modicum Brewing Co.'s lagering tank, its Bockbier was ready to share with eager customers and fans on Feb. 21.
From 12-10pm on Saturday, folks at Modicum Brewing Co. (4212 Southtowne Dr., Eau Claire) had the chance to savor the brewery's latest lager – in tandem with its "Cease & Desist Fest: A Celebration of Bockbier" event.
The annual festival underwent a name change, announced just a few months back, due to messages from another brewery claiming trademark ownership for what Modicum had previously titled their festival as.
Amidst the event shifts, locals and Modicum staff embraced the "rebrand" and honored many traditions planned with the Bockbier release. Pitchers of the "clean malt bomb"; a bratwurst bar to pair with a beverage (or two); and the German tradition of "Bierstacheln," where one inserts a red hot poker into the brew itself.
