A hush fell over the venue as Gordi took the stage; her presence commanding, and the music readying to transport an eager audience to a place where melodies tell stories and emotions run free.

At 8pm on Friday, Aug. 1, LIVE at LEONA’s (406 Galloway St., Eau Claire) opened its venue doors to a large crowd for a one-night performance featuring Gordi, S. Carey, and Quiet Takes.

The evening opened with Quiet Takes on stage, who performed songs from their latest album, “Regrets Only.” Show goers were transported to a dreamscape during "Meri Said," or perhaps drenched in the feelings elicited in "Oxbow Shower."

Between music sets, Leona's intimate venue radiated a sense of universal friendship. Old and new friends alike gathered for drinks, laughs, and time on the patio (the exterior, newly painted, drenched in greens and blues).

With the striking of the first guitar chord, attendees rushed back to the stage — drawn by the music to witness Gordi's performance and catch a glimpse of her eyes, hidden behind a free-flowing curtain of hair.

An award-winning Aussie with tens of millions of streams to her name, the artist has an impressive catalogue of collaborations behind her — including two full-length album releases and features with the Chippewa Valley’s own Bon Iver.

Eau Claire was a recent addition to the Midwest leg of Gordi's ongoing tour to promote her forthcoming album, "Like Plasticine," which is scheduled for release on Aug. 8, 2025. The event quickly sold out, with locals crowding the venue door day-of, in hopes of snagging an extra "seat" inside. This release follows Gordi's previous albums, "Reservoir" and "Our Two Skins."

On Friday night, attendees got a taste of the new record, as Gordi performed released tracks such as "PVC Divide" and "Head Rush."

Nostalgia permeated the evening, particularly with references to Gordi's performances at the 2018 Eaux Claires festival. Continuing this theme, S. Carey then joined the artist on stage, performing a few of his signature hits, including "Yellowstone."

Gordi concluded the night with more timeless sounds, delivering an extraordinary performance that continued to lift the crowd's spirits, especially during the rendition of "Extraordinary Life."

The grand finale earned thunderous applause, leaving the audience yearning to relive the moment and celebrate a thriving community of artists who choose to call Eau Claire home – or return to it, time and again.
