Chicago-style eats never tasted so sweet – especially for owners Chekell Hill (of Chekell’s SoulFood Palace) and Brian Moskiewicz (of Red Coal BBQ Family Restaurant), who call Chicago their hometown – though Hill is from the South side and Moskiewicz from the North Side.

Their new eatery, Soutside Soul, comes as a first in the barbecue and soul food scene: a collaboration between two seemingly competing businesses. Though they came from opposite sides of Chicago, the pair affirm one thing: they want to work together to provide the best Chicago-style soul food to the Chippewa Valley through their new restaurant at 2839 Mall Dr. Suite 7, Eau Claire. Southside Soul features specials like their Chicago Hot Dog (notable for its extra mustard and lack of ketchup!), Maxwell Street Polish, catfish fillets, and polish sausage, but also serves up fan-favorites like their Philly Cheesesteak, gyro, Italian Beef, coleslaw, baked macaroni and cheese, corn bread, muffins, and potato salad. (And that’s not to mention their delicious french fries!)

If you’re looking for a unique menu item, be sure to check out The BigBee – a sandwich served on 14” French bread, complete with gyro meat, roast beef, corn beef, raw onion, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and cheese.

Enjoy American classics like their hamburgers and cheeseburgers (or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, their gyro burger). Or, enjoy their fried okra apps, cheese curds (you heard that right!), garbage fries, Mexican street corn, and nachos.

This is the perfect spot to catch a game or hang with the fam – and if you’re watching a game, you might as well grab chicken wings, too – either boneless or whole. 

Check out Southside Soul on Mondays from 11am-10pm, Tuesday through Thursday 11am-9pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am-10pm, and Sundays from 11am-8pm for dine-in or takeout options.
